A Program in Miracles and the Artwork of Forgiveness

The origins of A Course in Miracles may be traced back to the cooperation between two persons, Helen Schucman and Bill Thetford, equally of whom were outstanding psychologists and researchers. The course’s inception occurred in the early 1960s when Schucman, who was simply a clinical and study psychologist at Columbia University’s University of Physicians and Surgeons, began to have a series of internal dictations. She described these dictations as originating from an inner style that discovered itself as Jesus Christ. Schucman originally resisted these activities, but with Thetford’s inspiration, she began transcribing the messages she received.

Around an amount of eight decades, Schucman transcribed what might become A Program in Wonders, amounting to three amounts: the Text, the Book for Students, and the Manual for Teachers. The Text sits out the theoretical basis of the class, elaborating on the key concepts and principles. The Book for Students includes 365 instructions, one for each time of the year, designed to guide the reader acim a day-to-day training of using the course’s teachings. One of the key subjects of A Course in Miracles is the idea of forgiveness. The class shows that correct forgiveness is the key to internal peace and awakening to one’s heavenly nature. In accordance with its teachings, forgiveness is not only a moral or ethical practice but a basic shift in perception. It suggests that the confidence is the foundation of suffering and conflict, whilst the Holy Soul offers a pathway to healing and awakening.
